Biography: James M. Nederlander was born on March 31, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Sarah and David T. "D.T." Nederlander. He studied at the Detroit Institute of Technology , and then dropped out to work at the Shubert Theater box office in Detroit. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He first purchased the Palace on Broadway in 1964. He married Barbara Smith, with whom he had his son James L. Nederlander. He then married Charlene Saunders, with whom he had two children.
TV Credits: He appeared in "Broadway: The American Musical," "The Annual 2011 Actors Fund Gala Awards," "Broadway of Bust," and "Spotlight on Broadway."
Other Awards: He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1986.
Trivia: He was the first of his brothers to go into the family theater owner business. The marquees of Broadway and London theaters were dimmed in his honor on August 3, 2016.
