Biography: James Henry Binger was born in 1916 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Yale University and the University of Minnesota Law School. He married Virginia McKnight. He formed the Jujamcyn Amusement Corporation, named after their children: Judith, James, and Cynthia. He was a life member of the board of the Guthrie Theater, a director of the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York, and a member of the executive committee of the League of American Theaters (now The Broadway League).

Trivia:
He was first introduced to Broadway in 1956 when his father-in-law, William L. McKnight, the president and chairman of the Minnesota manufacturing giant 3M, bought the St. James Theater.
The marquees of Broadway theaters were dimmed in his honor on November 4, 2004.
