Description
Reinhart & Hofmeister; Corbett, Harrison & MacMurray; Hood & Foulihoux, architects. Owned by the Rockefellers and managed by "Roxy" Rothafel, Radio City Music Hall's little sister theatre didn't share its success. A 1933 lawsuit from the already established Roxy Theatre forced a name change to the RKO Center. "RKO" was dropped in July of 1934, when the policy was changed to stage extravaganzas. The stage became an ice rink for skating shows from 1940 to 1950. In 1954, it was replaced by a skyscraper.
