Biography: Elaine Stritch was born on February 2, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Mildred Stritch. She studied acting at the New School for Social Research. She made her New York debut in a children's play called Bobino and her London stage debut in Sail Away. She married John Bay, who she met during rehearsals for a production of Tennessee Williams's Small Craft Warnings.
