The Little Theatre was re-named The Helen Hayes Theatre on July 12, 1983, during the run of this production. The performance count for this production is often erroneously reported as 1,222 and 8 previews; it played 1,230 performances and no previews, having transferred from off-Broadway. Harvey Fierstein returned to the role of 'Arnold' for the production final performance on Saturday, May 18, 1985.
