ABOUT THIS THEATRE
Description
The Wadsworth Theatre is owned by the West Los Angeles Department of Veteran's Affairs and is located on the Veteran's Administration campus and is operated by RICHMARK Entertainment's team, led by Richard Willis and Martin Markinson.
Built in 1939, in Spanish Colonial/Mission Revival architectural style, with its stucco finish and red clay tile roofing, makes the Wadsworth not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a historic landmark.
The Theatre is centered on a 27-acre parcel of land that fronts Wilshire Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard on the grounds of the West Los Angeles Department of Veterans Affairs complex.
From 1999 to 2002, the RICHMARK Entertainment team, led by Richard Willis, embarked upon a long term plan to renovate the facility. The majority of the renovation was completed by late 2002, including restoring its original Art Deco interior, a new fly loft, additional power, equipment and much more.
Demand for the Theatre continues to increase each year, and it is currently utilized by over 100 production companies/events each year equaling approximately 250 days of use each year.
The Theatre has been home to many Broadway shows (either coming from Broadway or going to Broadway), Concerts, Movie Premieres, screenings, Dance, Symphony, Symposia and more.
Currently, restored to its full glory, the renovation team for this beautiful venue sensitively maintained the integrity and charm of the historic building. The original tile, doors, door hardware, windows, interior and exterior sconces, stage floor and many other features have been restored to their original luster.
