ABOUT THIS THEATRE

Description
Built by prominent citizen General Charles W. Sandford to honor General Lafayette. It opened July 4, 1825 and specialized in melodramas and equestrian shows, but it could not compete with the Park Theatre. It was destroyed by fire in 1829.
