From September to December 1984, she appeared in the original Broadway productions of The Real Thing and Hurlyburly simultaneously. In Hurlyburly, the character Donna appears at the beginning of the first act, then again in the final scene. The play is over three hours long allowing Nixon time to perform in the much-shorter The Real Thing in between appearances. Interestingly, both productions were directed by Mike Nichols.
