Premiered Off-Broadway in New York at the Vineyard Theatre in 1986. Was considered a "Revival" for the purposes of the Tony nominations in 2014. "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" was on hiatus form 9/1/2014 through 9/8/2014.
