Biography: Maxine Stuart was born Maxine Shlivek on June 28, 1918 in New Jersey. She is a life member of The Actors Studio. She married her second husband, Frank Maxwell, in 1949. The couple had one daughter—Chris Ann Maxwell. She then married David Shaw in 1974.
Film/TV Credits: Film credits include: "Days of Wine and Roses," "Private Benjamin," "Fun with Dick and Jane," "Like Father Like Son," "Winning," "Kitten with a Whip," and "The Prisoner of Second Avenue." Television credits include: "The Edge of Night," "The Twilight Zone," "Perry Mason," "Dr. Kildare," "Chicago Hope" and "The Wonder Years."
Trivia:
She was a central figure in Helene Hanff's nonfiction books "84, Charing Cross Road" and "Underfoot in Show Business." Hanff recounted the duo's attempts to make it on Broadway in the 1930s and '40s.
