Also known as: John Paul Kuhn

John Kuhn was the son of the late Kammersangerin Charlotte Kuhn-Brunner and the late Kammersanger Dr. Paul Kuhn, both renowned singers with the Munich Opera. Born in Munich, he fled the Nazi regime, emigrated to the U.S., and worked tirelessly and courageously to arrange the safe transit of his parents through multiple countries and finally to the U.S. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46, landing in France shortly after D-Day, and fought in the Battle of Bastogne and other engagements.

A talented and supremely elegant tenor, John appeared in Europe and the U.S. in many operas and concerts. A highlight of his career was starring in televised performances of Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and other works for the NBC Opera Theatre. He then began a long and distinguished career as a voice teacher, including more than 30 years on the faculty of New York University.
