On April 15, 1956, Pollock was piloting a private plane from Detroit to New York City; his pregnant wife, Norma Vance was the only other person on board. The plane disappeared somewhere near Lake Erie. Pollock's body washed ashore on Lake Erie near Simcoe, Ontario at the end of July 1956. It is unclear whether Ms. Vance's body was ever found.
