Played the trumpet with Buddy Rich's band, Woody Herman, Claude Thornhill, Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Sammy Davis Jr. In the 80's, he formed his own group, "Masters of Swing". He is the inspiration for the father in "Side Man".
