Bobby McFerrin was scheduled to have a one-man show, "Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra on Broadway" on Broadway. Performances were originally scheduled for November 5 through November 10, 1990 at the Lunt-Fontanne, but after one postponement, the production never officially opened.

McFerrin has a four-octave vocal range and has guest conducted many orchestras and choirs across the country.

His song, "Don't Worry Be Happy," was the #1 song in the U.S. in September of 1988, the first "a capella" song to top the charts. He then won the Grammy for "best Male Pop Vocalist," "Best Song," and "Record of the Year."

His composition "The 23rd Psalm (Dedicated to My Mother)" was adopted as a hymn by the Unitarian-Universalist Association, and appears in their supplemental hymnal "Singing the Journey" (Hymn # 1038).
