Biography: Mort Lindsey was born Morton Lippman on March 21, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey. He was classically trained as a child, and studied at Columbia. He married Betty Bonney in 1955. He was musical director for "The Merv Griffin Show" from 1962 to 1986.

Television credits include: "The Pat Boone-Chevy Showroom," "The Judy Garland Show," "Gay Purr-ee," "Judy and Her Guests, Phil Silvers and Robert Goulet," "The Judy Garland Show, "Fanfare," "The Belle of 14th Street," "Carol Channing and Pearl Bailey: On Broadway," "Liza with a Z," "Merv Griffin and the Christmas Kids," "The Merv Griffin Show," "Monopoly," "The Birdcage," and "Cats Don't Dance."

Other Awards: Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music for "A Happening in Central Park" in 1969.
