Description
The last theatre to be built for the specific use of a minstrel company, in this case the San Francisco Minstrels, who opened the house in 1875. After they left, it was leased to minstrel and vaudeville companies. Over the years, its management and name changed many times, at one point taking the name Jonah to celebrate its indestructability. In the 1890s, it was known as Hermann's Gaiety Theatre. The Shuberts took over in 1902 and renamed it The Princess. It was destroyed for shops in 1907.
