ABOUT THIS THEATRE

Description
Herbert J. Krapp, architect. The Waldorf only lasted from 1926 to 1933 as a legitimate theatre. It was then rearranged so that movies could be presented in the auditorium while the stage and backsage area could be used as retail stores. Movies did not last, though, and soon the whole building was made up of stores. In 1968, it was demolished and the Exxon building was built on the site by the Rockefeller Center.
