Broadway Theatre

1445 Broadway (W. 41st St.), New York, NY
Seats (approximate): 1700

Built as the Metropolitan Concert Hall, presenting mostly concerts. Demolished after a brief stint as the Cosmopolitan Skating Rink. In 1888, James Bailey (of "Barnum and" fame) rebuilt it as the Broadway (J.B. McElfatrick, architect). But its 41st St. location was too far uptown to attract crowds, and Bailey sold his interest before construction was completed. Frank Sanger managed it successfully until 1892. Acquired by B.S. Moss in 1908, it was a film and vaudeville house until being razed in 1929.

Built: 1880    Demolished: 1929
