Biography: Nicholas Martin was born Joel Martin Levinson on June 10, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He studied drama at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He began acting for Rabb's A.P.A. -Phoenix theater company and in Broadway plays in the 1960s. He served as artistic director of the Huntington Theater Company from 2000 to 2008, and as artistic director of the Williamstown Theater Festival until 2010. He taught at Bennington College and performed at the Old Globe Theater.
