Biography: Robert Golden Armstrong, Jr. was born on April 7, 1917 in Pleasant Grove, Alabama. He acted with the Carolina Playmakers while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He subsequently attended the Actors Studio. He married Ann Neale, with whom he had four children. He was then married to Susan Guthrie until 1976, and then Mary Craven.
